Who can renew online
Students already living in Dublin with an existing IRP (GNIB) card can renew through the INIS website. You'll need to create an account at inisonline.jahs.ie.
Who cannot renew online
Students who have just arrived and don't yet have an IRP card must attend an in-person appointment. Fingerprinting and photos are required at your first registration and can't be done online.
Step-by-step: how to apply online
Go to inisonline.jahs.ie and click "Sign Up" to create your account. Use a computer rather than a phone — the portal works better on desktop. Save your progress at each step.

Fill in your details on the registration form. Once submitted, a confirmation link will be sent to your email — click it to activate your account and log in.

Once logged in, start your renewal application. Work through the confirmation checkboxes and click "Next" at each screen to move forward.

Work through the remaining screens, clicking "Next" to proceed. Make sure all fields are completed before moving on — incomplete sections will block your submission.

On the documents page, upload each file required for your renewal. See the list below for exactly what's needed.

After uploading all documents, tick the final checkbox and click "Submit." You'll be taken to the payment page. The fee is €300. Once payment goes through and you see "OK" on screen, your application is submitted — you'll receive a confirmation email shortly after.
Documents to upload
The renewal fee is €300, paid online at the end of the application. Once you see "OK" on screen after payment, your application is in — wait for the confirmation email before assuming anything went wrong.
