We hope you are enjoying your current experience in Ireland and that you continue to develop your English language skills. This page aims to provide information about the language course renewal process for our students studying in Ireland.
If you are approaching the end of your first Work & Study language course in Ireland and wish to extend your stay for another work and study program, you have the option to renew your course/visa two times. It is crucial to complete this process before the expiration of your existing visa. Typically, students in 25-week language school programs in Ireland are issued an 8-month GNIB / IRP.
The renewal process for a language school is quite simple. First, contact us to receive our renewal price list. Next, you need to decide on a language school. Once you've selected a language school, submit your registration by completing the provided form. We will then obtain your invoice from the school and send it to you. Upon receiving the invoice, you can proceed to make the tuition fee payment directly to the school. After you have successfully paid the school fee, we will send you the necessary documents to apply for GNIB.
If you would like to renew your language school with us, you can contact our Dublin office by filling out this form.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the conditions for my school renewal?
There are 5 important conditions for your school renewal;
- Your absence from your previous school should not be less than 85%,
- Your new school must be on the ILEP list (As Education State, we only offer ILEP-listed schools to our students!)
- The program you attend must be at least 15 hours per week, 25 weeks in total,
- Classes should be between 09:00 - 17:00 from Monday to Friday,
- At the end of the course, you must take an IELTS, TIE, or Cambridge exam.
2. How should I set the start date for my new course?
You must start your school on the first Monday after your active residence permit expires. For example, if your current residence permit expires on Friday, June 10, you must start your new school on Monday, June 13.
3. I could not take my IELTS/TIE exam in my previous course, can I take the exam in my new course?
Since this is a rule set by the immigration office, every school has to add a globally recognized test (IELTS, Cambridge, or TIE) to the student's bill.
4. Do I have to have insurance?
Another item that the immigration office requires, like the exam, is health insurance.
5. I am looking for an IELTS course, which school can I choose?
Our primary recommendation for IELTS is CES (Centre of English Studies), as it is an official IELTS test center and some lecturers have been teaching IELTS for 10 years. To pass the IELTS class at CES, it is necessary to be at least "intermediate’’ in English. As long as you are at the required level, you can switch to the IELTS class at any time and you can study for the exam for as many weeks as you want. As an alternative to CES, schools such as International House, and Emerald offer IELTS all year round.
6. Which schools are the most suitable for renewal?
Schools such as IH Dublin, ELI, IBAT, and Berlitz have very advantageous renewal prices. You can contact us for details.
7. When do the promotional renewal prices end?
Due to the increase in the interest of language school students in Ireland, the quotas of the schools began to fill up, and therefore the school renewal prices began to increase. In order not to be affected by this, you can make your registration as soon as possible and fix the price by paying a deposit of 100 Euro.
8. I have completed my 3 language schools, can I make an extension with the language school again?
After completing 3 language schools in total, it is not possible to enroll in the language school again. However, you can apply to undergraduate, graduate, or higher diploma programs.
9. How do I renew my residence permit?
You do not need to make an appointment again to renew your residence permit if you are residing in Dublin, you can renew your residence permit online. If you have renewed your passport after getting your last residence permit, then you need to make an appointment and bring your new and old passport and other necessary documents to the Immigration Office.
You can find our article on online IRP/GNIB renewal applications for residents in Ireland here.
